Enviromental Policy
It is our firm belief that practising a policy of environmental protection makes a significant contribution to our company’s continued success. We also believe that it demonstrates and documents our sense of responsibility towards the world at large.
Our products
At the company’s premises in Waldkraiburg, Germany, W. HALDENWANGER develops, produces and markets technical ceramics. Both in their use and disposal, our high-purity products are totally harmless in terms of any impact on the environment.
Our raw materials
We use both natural (clays) and synthetic raw materials (Al2O3, SiC, etc.) to produce our ceramics. We are conscious of the fact that even before further processing on our site, quarrying, production and transport make the energy content of these raw materials very high. We therefore strive to use these materials as efficiently as possible in the subsequent manufacturing process.
Our use of energy
Large volumes of natural gas and electrical power are used as the main sources of energy for sintering our manufacturing materials. Continual reduction in the use of non-renewable energy sources and the associated emission of greenhouse gases is – as far as technically possible – our primary aim.
Our water consumption
Water is needed in our operation mainly for body preparation, cooling and as a cleaning agent. We make a particular effort to lower consumption of valuable drinking water and at the same time to reduce the volume of wastewater produced.
Our waste management
Like many other companies, we also aim to keep to the motto: “Avoiding or minimising waste is better than recycling, and recycling is better than disposal.”
Our legal obligations
W. HALDENWANGER Technische Keramik GmbH & Co. KG naturally undertakes to adhere to all applicable legal obligations and other requirements. This includes working with the authorities in a spirit of mutual trust.
We commit ourselves as part of our environmental policy to continual improvement. We achieve this by using concrete objectives and individual targets, which we set and evaluate in our IMS programme.
