Materials
MTC Haldenwanger use a wide range of different materials to manufacture a diverse product range. These advanced ceramic materials, including Mullite, Fused Silica and Silicon Carbide are utilised for their desirable properties in challenging environments.
When you purchase products from MTC Haldenwanger you are assured materials of the highest quality, ensuring that they perform effectively in their final application.
MTC Haldenwanger is ideally placed to find solutions where others simply cannot, employing the skills and knowledge or our materials engineers to create products that offer the chemical, thermal and mechanical properties you require.
Our advanced ceramic materials include:
Alsint
We utilise 2 main varieties of Alsint in our manufacturing processes, these are Alsint 99.7 and Alsint Porous. Alsint 99.7 is ideally suited to high temperature applications such as kiln construction. Alsint Porous has similar refractoriness and chemical resistance as 99.7 but offers great thermal shock resistance.
Pythagoras (Mullite)
Mullite is an economical option for the creation of kiln components without sacrificing chemical resistance or high temperature operation (ranging from 1400°C-1600°C) .The Pythagoras 1800Z, Mullite ceramic material specifically offers electrical insulation and low evaporation properties at high temperatures, and as such is suitable for kiln tube applications.
Sillimantin
Sillimantin offers good chemical thermal shock resistance, does not react with heating elements and can be used in temperatures ranging from 1400°C -1650°C. Sillimantin ceramic material can also be shaped into special designs making it suitable for protective tubing in temperature monitoring devices and as rollers in kilns.
Silicon Carbide (Halsic)
We utilise numerous silicon carbide ceramic materials in our manufacturing processes including clay bonded silicon carbide and Halsic, recrystallised silicon carbide. Clay bonded silicon carbide provides good thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength due to a large wall thickness and operational temperatures up to 1400°C. Halsic is available in 3 forms (Halsic R, RX and I) offering distinct properties and application specific advantages.
Fused Silica
Fused silica ceramic materials provide properties such as low thermal expansion, good thermal shock resistance and continuous use at temperatures up to 1000°C. Fused silica is often used in creating rollers for furnaces, crucibles and also riser tubes.
